Work

Phillip was considered a jack of all trades. He could repair, fix and build anything that he set his mind to. His first job was working for his uncle, Butch Morgan building houses. He moved to Newark, DE in 1984 where he held a job painting cars. After the fumes became to much he began working at SIP, INC. There he ran a 40-ton brake press. He was injured in an accident there and smashed his right hand. After several surgeries and skin grafts, he decided to move back to WV. After he moved home, he met his future wife and started working for Appalachian Sash & Door in Nitro, WV. Although the company went through several name changes, including Morgan Builders and Andersen WIndows, Phillip worked there for 21 years. In 2006, the business closed its doors and Phillip did various construction jobs for friends and family members. He eventually went back to work for his beloved Uncle Butchie and remained there until his death. Phillip was a very hard-working man who did exceptional work no matter what the job. He gained the respect of his employers and fellow employees by setting the example of dedication and encompassing an extraordinary work ethic. It was not uncommon for Phillip to paint cars or to do construction jobs on the side to earn extra money for his family.
